Document Intelligence now ships **two models** instead of one, so the level of extraction can match the difficulty of the document.

**Fast** replaces the previous model on every existing document type, at the same **3 credits per page**. It is 30% faster and 25% more accurate, and it applies automatically: nothing to reconfigure, no change to your credit usage.

**Advanced** is new, at **6 credits per page**. It is 50% more accurate and reasons over the whole document instead of reading it field by field, which is what messy handwriting, checkbox grids, and multi page context require. Despite that, it runs only 10% slower than the new Fast model, so it is still quicker than the model it replaces.

  Where Advanced earns its keep:

  * **European accident statements (constat amiable)**, where handwritten boxes, free text, and the collision sketch have to be read together
  * **Complex handwritten documents**, such as medical certificates and filled-in paper forms
  * **Documents that need inference**, where a field is not written anywhere as such and has to be derived from the rest of the page

**You decide which model runs on which document type.** The Fast upgrade is automatic and costs nothing extra. Advanced is opted into per document type, so the 6 credit rate only applies where you asked for it.

Fast is live today in all workspaces. Advanced is available per document type, from your workspace settings or through your Penbox contact. An **Expert** model, for the hardest documents, is in development and planned for September. Learn more in the [docs](/guides/document-intelligence-models).
