The Domains page lets you connect your own domains to Penbox — one for hosting forms and one for sending emails. Access it from Settings → Domains.
Setting up custom domains requires adding DNS records in your domain provider. If you are not familiar with DNS configuration, use the Share button to forward the instructions to your IT team.

Domain types

TypePurpose
Form HostingThe domain where your forms are served. Most workspaces use a subdomain like forms.yourdomain.com.
Email SendingThe domain used to send email notifications to recipients. Most workspaces use their primary domain or a subdomain.

Setting up a domain

  1. Click Set up this domain next to the domain type you want to configure.
  2. Enter your hostname and click Generate Records.
  3. Penbox generates a list of DNS records (CNAME, TXT, or MX) that you need to add in your DNS provider.
  4. Add the records in your DNS provider, then come back and click Verify Domain.
Each DNS record shows its current status — Connected once the record is active, or Pending while propagation is in progress.
DNS propagation can take up to a few hours depending on your provider and TTL settings. If verification fails, wait and try again.

Email sending domain — sender address

When setting up an email domain, you also configure a default sender address (e.g. noreply@yourdomain.com). This is the address used when no specific sender is defined for a form or notification. Make sure this address exists in your email system. You can update the sender address at any time from the domain details.

Sharing DNS records

Once DNS records are generated, click Share to send the record details to your IT team or the person responsible for managing your DNS. This lets you hand off the configuration step without giving them access to your Penbox workspace.
